BIOFIN-EU aims to establish a comprehensive framework and technology that fosters the necessary conditions for nature-positive investments.
BIOFIN-EU is actively innovating and experimenting with novel approaches for capturing, aggregating, and analysing biodiversity and ecosystem services (ES) data. The goal is to minimise transaction and reporting costs associated with finance that supports the protection and restoration of biodiversity.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
Create and test solutions to quickly and effectively gather and share valuable biodiversity and Ecosystem Services data.
Understand preferences and regulations of capital owners, financial institutions, and NBS-providers to integrate governance aspects into business models, financial instruments, and associated technologies.
Develop trustworthy, accurate, and fair data sharing of biodiversity and Ecosystem Services outcomes to reduce transaction costs and other barriers to nature finance.
Design and test new business models and biodiversity-linked investments that maintain protections for NBS-providers and their communities while securing long-horizon benefits for NBS-promoters.
Integrate relevant processes, systems and reporting and disclosure requirements and support organisations in directing financial flows towards biodiversity protection and restoration.
Build knowledge and skills among current and future finance professionals and decision-makers and build a community to advance the implementation of the regulations to co-develop solutions and accelerate the financial flow of funds towards biodiversity-linked activity.
Examine i) opportunities arising from specifically, nature positive investment by analysis preferences among shareholders, bond investors, consumers and retirees; ii) transition costs associated with the re-allocation of finance from destructive economic activity; iii) financial models associated with corporate performance as well as fund management performance.
The NBS Dashboard provides a cohesive structure to categorise NBS, guide good governance structures and associated financial instruments and business models.
An interactive database to categorise NBS and provide to stakeholders in nature-positive investments a systematic tool to record, monitor and report outcomes.
Develop a ‘Menu of Good Governance’ options and a ‘Library of Stakeholder Engagement’ to provide mechanisms for establishing, expanding and maintaining corporate participation in NBS.
Provide the tools and methodologies for calculating costs, benefits and impacts of NBS-investment.
The BIOFIN-EU Learning Sites are different locations, where the NBS Dashboard will be co-designed, tested and validated, with the active participation of different stakeholders. Each learning site will contribute to the design and testing of a different nature-based solution.
