Etifor took part in the 3rd European Carbon Farming Summit as an active contributor and moderator partner.
During the event, Etifor joined discussions, side meetings, and networking activities with policymakers, investors, NGOs, and technical experts. These exchanges help build the partnerships needed to scale up carbon farming across Europe.
In its session, the discussion focused on how carbon forestry can grow from pilot projects, such as BIOCLIMA, into larger and financially viable solutions through new financial and business models. BIOCLIMA is one of the Italian learning sites of the BIOFIN-EU project and shows how real projects can support this transition.
The session explored public–private partnerships, blended finance, and ecosystem service certification as alternatives to traditional offsetting. Case studies showed growing demand for high-quality carbon removals and highlighted the role of project aggregators, long-term monitoring, and policy alignment in reducing investment risks. Investors also discussed challenges such as unclear regulations, fragmented markets, and the need for stronger EU frameworks. Real-world restoration and reforestation projects were also presented, showing how reliable monitoring and certification can link environmental results with sustainable finance and ESG reporting.

Etifor’s participation in the summit
strengthened its role in connecting research, practice, and policy. It also
supported the dissemination of BIOFIN-EU by sharing project experiences and
learning from other initiatives working to make carbon farming more reliable
and scalable in Europe.
